Poem written by Joy: Something unfair keeps happening. Something - hot smoke - I don't know where it comes from, but it burns my chest. I miss my home. Then I wake up. Then I miss my home. Then I walk on my feet for three hours straight, looking for flour. Then I miss my home. Then sometimes I find flour. And sometimes I don't. Then I miss my home. Then I go back home, hungry and exhausted. I gather wood to light a fire. Then I miss my home. Then I cook anything canned-food even dogs and animals wouldn't touch. But who cares about us ? There are animal welfare societies that evacuate animals. But who would evacuate us ? Then I supress my inner questions. Then I miss my home. Then I go out in the afternoon, to the sea they no longer let us reach. Then I miss my home. Then I return to sleep at night, in the shelter I have taken as a substitute for my home. Oh - I have remembered everything I miss. Just my home. Joy Poem written by Joy: In every conference, they speak of reconstruction - the rebuilding of this sorrowful land. They discuss collecting the rubble and ashes, recycling them in one of the nations. Excuse my ignorance, but who will host rubble mixed with blood and the bones of decomposing corpses ? The corpses of innocent people who were killed and denied rescue ? Pardon me again, but the same countries now willing to host debris filled with the remains of children and women - are they not the very ones who refused to host them while they were alive ? Will these countries be able to bear what will haunt their sleepless nights and torment their dead conscience ? Honestly, excuse my ignorance, my questions, and nothing more. But do not excuse my hunger and fear beneath the bombs. And do not excuse my slow death. Joy Poem written by Joy: The weight of what's happening around me is crushing me. Journalist Mohammed's words strike me to the core; they weren't ordinary, but resonated like a seismic blast. He came forward to tell the whole world he'd stopped reporting the truth, fearing for his life. Never in my life have I witnessed such fear grip the press, where death surrounds them from every direction. The statement from the Palestinian Journalist's Syndicate terrifies me, and the numbers of slain journalists, seemingly targeted with premeditation, are astonishing. Will journalism die, and the voice of truth and freedom fade away ? Will it perish so falsehood and absurdity can thrive ? Will it die to bury the rights of the innocent ? These questions are haunting me. Joy

For several days, Bluesky won't stop banning the accounts of Joy from Gaza. She did nothing wrong, at all. Joy is a writer. Her account and her voice are important, her words are powerful. We need to still look at her, to still hear her.
