Only partway through this but this is why I regularly read @craigunger.bsky.social - it helps to demist the fog of (hybrid) war a lot to have an extensive, detailed historical into its origins.

Awkward. Of course China can just throttle the rare earths tap again if right and the US is unhappy about this and seeks to escalate again.

So now China has AI which uses 1/8th of the power US AI does and lasers which use 1/10th.

Seems like there's a lot of that going on. Almost like the fellas in the utility cos and their buddies in the fossil fuel cos they used to work for don't want things to change, and those sweet sweet profits and level of revenue from expensive energy, to keep flowing..
