Kafka on the Shore is a mind altering book. The flow, the mystery, the characters. It’s indescribable. And as Murakami wrote, “if you can’t get it across in words, don’t try”

If you haven’t experienced this book, I HIGHLY recommend you do. It will cleanse and expand your mind.

Murakami nails it. Kafka on the Shore #booksky

“I know I’m a little different from everyone else, but I’m still a human being. That’s what I’d like you to realize”

“Intolerance, theories cut off from reality, empty terminology, usurped ideals, inflexible systems. Those are what really frighten me”

@stephenking.bsky.social Elevation is so good. Talk to you neighbors. You’ll find out you have more in common than you think.

Really enjoyed this novella. Such an easy read with so much wisdom. A hopeful story. All the characters are like your neighbors. It’s a short one, don’t miss it

Got Linux Mint running on my laptop. No dualboot. Couple of quirks, but mainly software I was using (calibre, ExpressVPN). Some cli needed for ExpressVPN install, had an issue with calibre converting to Kepub with the plugins, but got them all working and it is lovely.

Finished The Blade Itself. Onto Before They Are Hanged. Enjoyed the first book, but still looking for the plot. The characters are very well written and deep though.

Checking out Joe Abercrombie with The First Law series. About 80% through. It clicked when Glokta, Logen, and Bayaz met. Really enjoying the way he can write a single scene from multiple characters view points while making it feel seamless. The scene with Jezal fighting Gorst was so smooth

Rode my bike into Main St Flemington. Went to an awesome bakery, Bread and Culture, to get a blueberry compote toast while reading some Joe Abercrombie.

I hope everyone is able to enjoy this beautiful day as much as I am.

Sunrise on the Reaping

“I’ve been condemned to life”

That line alone resonated way too much for me.

It’s a devastating book. More so because you already know how it ends.

#booksky There are many times when I wish I didn’t have empathy. I’m only on chapter 8 of Sunrise of the Reaping. I’m just in tears because these innocent kids just want kindness, protection, food, are all going to die. It’s so clear why Haymitch turns out how he does. Heartbreaking.

I hate it.

Spellbound Century ride. Plenty of mishaps brought the average down….but really happy with over 20mph average for 100 miles.
