Like others have stated, assuming you use Capital One for banking (as I also do), the timing is probably coincidental due to Capital One's merger with Discover, since these kind of changes can't be pushed overnight, even due to consumer feedback. The timing still is funny, though.

As the article mentions, is the site being aimed for a blight? Absolutely. But that mall was torn down when I was in -middle school-. There has been ample to try and revitalize the site into something that could actually benefit the community, and there's no reason that can't still be the priority
