FYI for all the folks now shopping at Costco - it’s a great place to get high quality and affordable cheese! Even America’s Test Kitchen agrees.

Made soup with the turkey carcass from Thanksgiving tonight. Turned out wonderfully! Hearty and simple; perfect for a chilly autumn evening.

Tonight, the hubs is letting me pick the entertainment. Last few nights we’ve binged some Time Team to fully disconnect from the here and now, but I’ve got a different idea. We’re gonna watch the Martha Stewart doc. I even acquired a bottle of her bestie Snoop’s wine to help set the mood.

Way too excited that we finally put all the trash and debris accumulated during our (almost completed) bathroom reno into a big dumpster today.

This spring, we planted a rose bush in the front yard. It grew great but just before it tried to bloom in May, a huge storm struck and broke the bloom off the plant. Amazingly, my resilient little plant still bloomed! I just saw this flower earlier today. So happy.

So I know these pics aren’t good or impressive but they are mine. Today was amazing, totally enhanced by the crowd who cheered as the sun disappeared and returned. Amazing to see it in person, and kudos to Burlington, VT for making the day so successful with the massive influx of people!

Made some corned beef, potatoes, cabbage, and carrots for dinner. The hubs got a huge slab of meat from Costco so it should last a WHILE!

Hubs and I made a short rib ragù with pappardelle for Valentine’s Day dinner! I also made a 3-layer cake (2 white velvet layers and one red velvet layer) with buttercream. Trying to get better at cake decoration and frosting, so a fun exercise!

My mom gave us this tomato strainer last year and we finally have enough tomatoes from the garden to make sauce so got to use it for the first time! Amazed at how well it works, honestly. So quick and mess-free! Time for some Sunday sauce.

No cute animals to share, but we had to plant bulbs late this year (waiting until the house painters were done) and I figured we wouldn’t get any flowers. Luckily, I was wrong! All of my iris bulbs have started to bloom!
