So I did have everything right, then I discovered an error, deleted, and redid the post. Thereby introducing two new problems... 🤦🏻‍♂️

DOI not activated yet, but the paper is at www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Naturally, I am calling #BirdSky for this one, not the evil place. 😉

A quick stroll through the botanical garden before work this morning produced 19 bird species. It really feels like spring is here (very early for Oslo..). Best observations were a surprise Lesser spotted woodpecker and a stock dove! 🪶

Watching waxwings through the office window is known to increase happiness while simultaneously decreasing productivity 🤷‍♂️

Using UU facility, our colleague Per Alström recently recorded a talk on bird taxonomy, prepared for BirdLife Finland's 50th Anniversary meeting. Check it out, especially if you love to listen to the call variation in Hume’s Leaf Warbler:

The perk of having an office in the middle of Oslo Botanical Garden is that lunch-time walks can always result in some nice bird encounters. I saw this female Goshawk flying into the tree where she stayed for at least an hour afterwards. Upon zooming in on her head, I saw some blood splatter. 🪶
