It’s not an insignificant change because it completely changes the dynamic and relationship between them. Alicent was literally tormenting a CHILD. BOTH of their ages were switched up by the show runners. Years moved around. But I’m not gonna argue, especially in JJs replies.

I had to reword it because it’s a bit confusing when you think about it in terms of their birth years. Alicent was born in 88 AC In FAB, Rhae in 97 AC. But in the show Alicent is born in 98 which means she’s the same age as in the book, just not really in the right time. Rhae age is all messed up

It’s both. In Fire and Blood Rhaenyra is around 9-10 when Alicent married Viserys. Alicent was around 19 so there’s a ten or so year age gap in the book. In the show Alicent is aged down and Rhae technically aged up so they’re the same age.

I personally HAATTTEEE that they aged up Rhae to be Alicent’s age. It completely changes the entire perspective of FAB and dilutes alicents actions toward a literal child. It’s like from the beginning they wanted to water down the Hightower’s actions and vilify the Valyrians/Targaryens
