We propose 💡: expanding conservation units and Indigenous territories 🏞️, strengthening territorial governance, valuing regenerative economies, and integrating climate policy with biodiversity protection.

Our review addresses the interconnected pressures, among them: conversion to cattle pasture and croplands 🚜, fire intensification 🔥, inadequate legal frameworks, and threats to Indigenous peoples.

Working with an outstanding team 🤝 (@cassiocp.bsky.social and others!), we examined the accelerating threats to Brazil's Cerrado, a biodiversity hotspot that has lost over 55% of its native vegetation yet receives far less protection than the Amazon.
