Rupert Guinness, chairman of the family brewing empire, drove Guinness’ global expansion opening breweries in London, Nigeria & Malaya and launched the first Guinness World Records.

We had the pleasure of visiting Baron of Dunsany, Film Director, Environmentalist and photographer, Randal Plunkett to photograph him in his ancestral home. Randal will be added to our archive along with other figures for the Lafayette Heritage Photography Project.

On this day in 1916, James Connolly was executed for his role in the Easter Rising.

This portrait of Ivan Pavlov was taken at our Bond Street studio during a visit to Britain in the early 1900's. Pavlov’s work with dogs laid the foundation for behavioural psychology. Another image showing the setup that gave rise to the term “Pavlovian conditioning.”

Marconi established a wireless transmitting station at Rosslare Strand, Co. Wexford and begun a regular transatlantic radiotelegraph service between Clifden, Co. Galway and Glace Bay in Nova Scotia, Canada.

These portraits of Cecil Beaton were taken in our Bond Street studio by James Lafayette, the official royal photographer of his time.

Lafayette’s opulent style left a lasting mark on the young Beaton, who would later inherit both his title & his theatrical flair.

Mrs Patrick Campbell, muse to George Bernard Shaw was the original inspiration for Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion.

From her to Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady, and later Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, it’s a character that’s been reimagined across generations.
