And sidenote: I read a lot of Victorian Detective Dramas, and I think Miss Scarlet fits the formula better with season 1. Good mystery, tension with the male who feels divided between his admiration for her and the trust Eliza's dad put into him (making him overprotective at times....

(3/3)Some fans enjoyed the new DI and the romance (he's a dad with a kid trope) but many really thought the Duke leaving- even if we loved the dynamic and his leaving made us sad- would allow the focus to be on Eliza as a woman, maybe add female friends. But it's her trying to gain a man's approval.

(2/3) ...and after the departure and the title change, we really thought the focus would be on Eliza Scarlet's journey. To our dismay, they "replaced" the male lead. Most still give it a shot: episode 501 was heavily focused on the new DI, with side characters GUSHING how amazing he is.

Yes, in fact that's the thing (coming from a fan): most weren't happy when Stuart Martin left because Duke was part of the title and they implied romance JUST before he was gone so it was kind of a (surprising) blow! BUT, the general consensus was that we would enjoy a focus on Eliza Scarlet. (1/3)

I have no words. Every line from his speech was scary, I am not even in the US and I'm shaking.

Me too! I definitely struggle to understand why he was elected.
Gosh. I almost started crying at the Drill, baby drill. Our planet is literally dying but yeah let's drill right away.

THIS. Exactly. I just listened (from Canada) to what he said and I feel like Im living in a dystopian novel. This is scary af.

Personally, I found the show had a different vibe. And I think that vibe is not for me. Read some spoilers on upcoming episodes and it turned me off even more. Would have preferred the show to focus on Eliza now that the Duke is gone.
It's watchable. It's just not a show I'll be passionate about.

New guy interview with TvInsider. He said new inspector "sees the good in humanity while Duke didn't."

...and now they are saying in interviews that Duke was unkind! Reading this, how they are treating a character they created, I'm glad Stu got out. They don't care about continuity or anything. Trash!

Same. The story makes no sense anyway 🤷‍♀️ huh she was crying by his bedside and putting off work when he was in a coma, then was eyebanging him on the couch while he was recuperating but...she let him leave without a word?!? It's just stupid and all over the place.
