From death March, the bobcat mafioso of Vicenza, still no name yet, but I wanted to draw the scars/tattoos around his eyes, as most of the time I planned on him wearing red tinted glasses. Showing his hair and an alternative design when I was trying to figure out his hair previously. Still rough.
Newest drawing of the bobcat mafioso in death March. Based on a reference from a friend, I tried to draw the face/mouth shape with the reference in mind. Focusing on the eye scars, and the slight overlay of the bobcat demonic spirit surrounding his body like armor. Older designs of the bobcat mafioso. I kinda like the hair being like this, not sure about the face though. The two mafioso brothers. The black haired one was molded into the leader of a mafioso with a base in Vicenza, Italy. The blonde one ran away from home to retire in Vicenza where he had his first kid, before the black haired brother found and killed him in front of his wife.

Asuka as a yokai of a stray cat guardian from a long time ago, and other designs she’s had/living forms she may have taken trying to find a boy that caught her eye when she was still a very new guardian spirit. From Death March.
Asuka had a design based on when I leaned into her being like a cat and Kenji being like a loyal abandoned puppy personality wise. I leaned harder into her being a cat origin wise, and had an idea for her n Kenji to have briefly met a long time ago, several of kenji’s past lives ago, and Asuka goes from being a stray cat guardian deity, to a deathly reaper in order to try n find this intriguing young man once more, since she is unaware of her own feelings and wants beyond her purpose to protect strays. Back then, Kenji himself was a stray of sorts. A few other designs of Asuka over time, recontextualized as possible living reincarnations of her in trying to find Kenji. Not 100% sure on this, I did like the designs enough to draw em a few times though.

General Gravity/Raoul from Re•Volt and his biological deadbeat dad (unknowingly a musical inspiration to both Liruk and Raoul growing up), currently nameless but considered Lophi or Torius from Latin names for a monkfish.
Quick drawings of Raoul/General Gravity and their difference in hairstyles Predatory, parasitic, Toxic alien father of Raoul, maybe second time I’ve tried to give him a physical design. Like the idea of a bioluminescent alien fish surrounding his body, unseen by most eyes. Lophi/Torius, a music star with an alien parasite that gained extended youth and charisma, rising to rock stardom while not caring for any children he’s left behind with his “groupies”. Absolutely an example of “don’t meet your heroes” that would come up to Raoul and Liruk. The second draft and a posed design for Lophi/Torius from a Prince pose photo I saw while drawing the second page. An idea of a bioluminescent alien fish would surround him as he performs for a charisma boost and as a lure to the groupies he’d treat poorly behind closed doors.

Most modern designs for Death March characters Kenji Contra, Asuka, Ai Lan and Ozzie Rae Elle in his previous living life.
Kenji Contra, a fluffy kindhearted young man whose kindness stems from a deep loneliness he grew up with. Asuka. An element from her oldest design and newest combined to this really cool hairstyle I liked. Ai Lan, not sure if the name will stick, drew this guy as a modern friend to Chihiro who questions her affections for Kenji and his treatment of her. Nameless Child who would become Ozzie Rae Elle, the last Deathly Monarch before the story begins.

Death March - Chihiro gushing about her crush on Kenji, Asuka taking notes on Chihiro’s ramblings and Kenji embarrassed but unaware of being the subject of Chihiro’s affections. Drew these three in relation to imagining the song Fall In Love by Han Jihyo and Park Soeun acting as an anime ending.

Kenji Contra, his most modern design, acting a bit embarrassed to be perceived. I heard a song recently called Palate Cleanser by Wanuka, and the lyrics and sound really gave me Kenji Vibes. I like to imagine the voice being his and the subject matter of mostly wanting to present kindness to a loved one while having hints of a sadder origin for his kindness. Asuka taking notes of Chihiro’s ramblings. Drawn with her most modern design as well. Unaware of her own feelings, just impressed by Chihiro’s passions even being described aloud in her daydreams. The three heads of Chihiro, Kenji and Asuka, with the song Fall in Love playing as I drew this idea of an anime ending with the three of em.

Working on the mafioso backstory a bit more for the brothers/fathers of Rio in Death March. Also liked the idea of showing a forest witch being a possible reason why the black haired brother gets this otherworldly protection around him in the form of this demonic bobcat.
The brothers mafioso in their youth, the black haired one ends up being the boss and raising Rio after killing the blonde one. Work on a witch of the forest the black haired brother would take comfort in and gain the strength to ruin his familia, to find and kill his brother. I liked the idea of branches in the form of her insignia and nature in her hair. Also saw the cougar was a predator for the bobcat, with an older woman in mind already, I feel like this came naturally together for this origin of wicked power. While listening to the godfather Waltz and love themes, I started picturing a story between the two brothers that would cause their separation, the blonde one’s death and the justification the younger brother would have for ruining his brother’s life after feeling like he was trapped and left behind at a young age. The full page of work on the witchy woman the mafioso takes comfort in, and work on the bobcat demonic form/barrier around the mafioso.

Mafioso Padre, leader of the crimson ring in Vicenza. The main ideas I wanted for this character was indication of being a gang leader, the crimson glasses rio wears, appearance of a wild cat, and a toxic representation of what Rio could become. Even from afar, his influence was forced upon Rio.
Father of Rio Leader of the Crimson Ring Toxic Masculinity, Killed brother in front of wife, mostly absent father/punishment. Kindness/softness = “being weak gets you killed by those who want it more” Short, stout man with a wrestler build in mind. The spiritual armor/barrier he has around his body appears to have thicker forearms and calves with big claws in a rough fur pattern continually morphing. He might have a thick tail, first time I drew the armor/spiritual barrier around him. Both the normal appearance (top left) and the armored/battle ready appearance to the spiritually tuned eye (top right). I wanted him to be an intimidating toxic short king. I had the visual in mind that his spiritual fur coat would stop bullets from hitting his body, instilling fear upon those who would challenge him. An idea for the barrier around his face to come from his eyes/appear around his glasses, with fangs covering his mouth to act as claws of the face. I liked the idea of deathly horns looking like cat ears, with the sides of his head looking like he’d have mutton chops of sorts. I want him to be a short n muscled dude with scary strength and durability, to most, it’d look like his very presence is uncomfortably rough and he could cut you without pulling any blades or tricks. It’d look like he’d be slashing mortals who looked at him wrong.

Family of Rio Marcello Alvillar-Bassetto, including his birth mother and father, as well as his mostly absent mafioso father. Still developing the details, but the relationship of the two brothers who were both important absent father figures in Rio’s life has changed a bit.
Rio Marcello Alvillar-Bassetto Rose tinted glasses wearing son of a mafioso who taught him very early in life that kindness and tender gestures are weaknesses through the death of his late uncle. His mafioso padre beat his uncle to death in front of his madre as a lesson and crime out of hatred and jealousy. Due to only seeing his father as a means for punishment and judgement, he grew up feeling like his dad knew what the world was like more than anyone else, and he couldn’t afford to show any “weaknesses”. Madre and zio. Rio and Marcello. Madre Rio’s been in a horrid state since the death of her beloved Marcello. Kept secret from figlio Rio, Marcello was her beloved and his biological father. The mafioso padre was extremely hateful of his brother and seeing how happy these two were together, decided to ruin everything and stain the lives of both son and mother with the death of their patriarch, overwriting the history for their son to learn as he was raised from afar. The pictures of the family members without the one who came in and decided to ruin everything. The son doesn’t know of his own birth father, and was raised on stories on how his uncle was a coward and too weak to take care of the family. The first attempt at redrawing the mafioso father. I wanted him to have a theme related to a bobcat or lynx for his spiritual armor. I also wanted to depict a look that would communicate enough to inform Rio that this is what he could turn out like and what he was raised to become, also enough similarities between them to think this is the man who is his birth father.

As I’m no longer in the mood to draw for now, I just wanted to add this bit for drawing another Reichel design. His longer messier hair once he’s reborn in the world of the obelisk, the hat maybe more rougher or looking stitched together, the ringleader coat to be more detailed later.
Reichel Otterusso, the collapsing circus maestro. The guardian of sloth. Not sure if it makes sense, but I originally wanted him to appear lazy to the perception of every other guardian in the world of the obelisk, but in his life, the sloth he fell for led to his family’s demise, and he possibly tried to ignore the feelings and coping with the tragedy by putting up as much a performance as possible. In order to survive, throwing everything away about himself, but ignoring any possible future where he could be happy or come to an understanding of what happened on the worst day of his life. Sloth in reference of refusal/ignorance. I’m not sure if it makes sense, but I almost imagine a phrase like “you can’t force ignorance is bliss upon yourself, you can’t unknow what you’ve already experienced” as like a partial phrase, not willing to go further for learning or understanding, possibly taking the wrong lessons or straight up ignoring reality to live in a much less painful memory. I wanted this man to look like a specter in his old clothes.

Recent drawings of Zakaz/Kazak, a tortured, deposed prince of a fallen nation in Bullet.Proof. A samurai character I’ve been working on in Re•Volt, currently not named but drawn with Yasuke in mind. The deadbeat birth father of General Gravity to be developed. And a rough Sloth - Reichel Otterusso.
Zakaz/Kazak is an old character that was locked away to rot in the nation of gold in the world of bullet.Proof. One of three brothers who were raised to rule their nation before the SciFr virus enveloped the world, he was locked up and tortured senselessly, losing most memory of his life before. A savant turned insane by his brother most insecure, possible split personalities or displaying fits of mania and depression once he is found. Still have to figure a lot out about this guy. Originally I had an idea in the future world of Re•Volt, for a last samurai kinda character. The last descendant of a family who tried to enforce extreme discipline in relation to keeping a family tradition/idea of what being a samurai would entail, the lessons only got harsher as boys became more and more scarce as the family went on. The last descendant is a girl who was raised harshly with efforts to ensure their traditions get passed on, even while constantly berating her for traits out of her control, she eventually separated from her family entirely and decided to ignore everything she was told growing up. I wanted part of her story involve recognizing there are some benefits to the way she was raised, even knowing her parents caused her so much pain and took away a childhood like those of her peers growing up, she can embrace parts of her upbringing that may help her thrive in the world today. To understand, not to endorse, to not block herself from her own growth beyond them. Rough idea for an absentee father figure in General Gravity’s upbringing. General gravity doesn’t speak of their home life a lot but they were adopted from an early age, barely recalling struggles his mother went through by herself. While he was curious about his birth parents, he states he doesn’t want to pursue his origin any further to hurt his adoptive parents or to find things he may not want to know, but may be forced to see a toxic, broken being in the form of his birth father during the course of the story. While his genes run through General gravity’s/Raoul’s blood, he was never around to raise him or take care of his mother when she was in his life. Even if it wasn’t always the case, any traits shared with this man deeply affected Raoul, bringing up horrible thoughts he felt he wasn’t allowed to think. I imagine this character’s role in the story is to force Raoul to confront a deeply emotional scar he’s carried, even if he thinks he has no reason to focus on this part of his origin, he isn’t satisfied with the result. What would he do if he’s forced to look at this broken, toxic father and prevent him from continuing to be a problem for everyone else to deal with. Raoul would normally have a lot of a harder time expressing emotions, but this would be something that may make or break his reality. Rough drawing of Reichel Otterusso, a clown for a circus long long ago. I had a few designs for him over time, originally not depicting him with a mask, I liked the idea of the mask being just a bit too small to cover his entire face and his hat possibly being way too big or split down the middle to show how roughly he’s trying to put on this performance, his own mask to hide how hurt he is over shit he feels he can’t talk to anyone about. Left all alone feeling like everything wrong in his life is his fault, a cursed child who didn’t deserve to be born or live longer than his sibling(s?)

I don’t recall if I posted these, but here’s some more work when I was still trying to develop how this character’s hero form looked. I think the shy side I felt confident in right away. Lack of body confidence in posture, with a mask on, the feeling goes away. Prioritizing protecting “the ideal”.
Page of trying to figure out a heroic look for Scarlett. Scarlett’s more feminine presenting character outside of the costume. Born in a male body, it is important to me this character feels like they wanna be a girl sometimes, and they wanna be a guy too, but their reality before the heroism makes them feel like they can’t live up to “being a guy” or were born wrong. They know they want a different body and to be treated better by their family, but the heroic side gives them room to explore a side that was previously “not possible” with bad influences around them constantly saying how they should be. A drawing to present the idea of a mask/hiding their face being enough to stir enough confidence in them to commit heroic acts without fear of judgement or “not looking/sounding right” An idea for the mask/helmet based off a vague idea when I was a kid and one of Liruk’s masks being a sphere with eyes covering his face. Liruk is supposed to be the hero that inspires Scarlett to go beyond their family’s expectations.

This is the most solid look I’ve had for a feel of what I want with this character so far. The idea of a hip bone crown emulating a bird head, feathers for flash/coolness, this idealized version of what a hero is to this character who’s unconfident in their body.

Sable the shapeshifter. I only really drew her like this and a smooth alien looking form a while ago, but I I liked the range I could have her messy hair in. One rough bun tied up, long hair in the back, short messy bangs of sorts in the front, with a little creature on her striped shirts/dresses. Sable head focus based on the recent drawing depicted first. Had the idea for her body shape being more pear like, bottom heavy but less pronounced up top. Like depicting the duality of clothes I like, either tight or baggy/loose with her having big sweaters or form fitting shirts with the potential for wide legged pants and jeans. Also love the dual colored hair and her half frame glasses. Carlie, originally depicted in a tracksuit with a few depictions of her in a dress shirt n tie, the idea for her is of a little dramatic actress. Originally she had half a mask covering half her face, and she’d change her hair a bit based on whoever she’s mocking/copying in her original story within the Cat and Mouse survival game. Always had the idea of her hair being red. Scarlett Skybird’s design is coming together. Liked the idea of something the character could make on their own, or what they’d imagine to be “heroic/cool”. Feather like armor covering their actual hair (and can be mistaken for it), a gladiator/roman inspired cape to be worn with an emblem holding it asymmetrically, the breast plate covering their chest as some of the only armor this character would wear. Most of the design was always an idea of a shy character becoming a red ranger/main sentai character of their own show. Tights and minimal armor, with a headpiece I designed with the human hip bones and a bird face in mind. I like it looks a bit like a crown or odd shaped heart over their head too.

Cierra Stolyuu, original guardian of Lust in the Obelisk Protectorate. Was really proud of how this turned out from a design of hers I haven’t drawn much or in a while. I wanted her to be the most kindhearted out of all the protectorate members, being a truly powerful guardian among her peers.
Was really worried I would mess up the shading for this character, so I took a picture of the rough line work for her face and hair before I decided to go any further. Was the best she looked in a long time. Once I started only a bit of shading and erasing extra lines, I was really liking how this face was turning out Cierra Stolyuu, original Guardian of Lust within the Obelisk Protectorate. She used to look pretty drastically different, before I could draw a better range of hairstyles, I recall her only consistent bit translated between designs is this “X” scar over her forehead and slashes across the corners of her face. I think she’s one of the tallest women I’ve drawn compared to many characters across a lotta different stories and origins. This was the ideal form of a young frail girl who originally had a strong lust for power in her previous life. Here, when granted power beyond her dreams previously, she actually uses it to be a true guardian among her peers in the protectorate.

Wendy/Naomi, originally designed as player number 29 when I worked on “In This Game of Cat and Mouse” my survival game story. I don’t know what story she’d take part in now, but I loved the song “Excalibur” by Mili when thinking of her as an android/robot brain put into this human body.
Wendy, a computer put into a dying young woman’s body to try and bring her back from the brink of death. Those around her unaware Naomi has passed, Wendy is trying to live a life Naomi would be proud of, being her best friend even when she didn’t have a face to hold close to. I imagine her original body being similar to Portal’s companion cube, non human looking inanimate object, though with a comforting voice that spoke to Naomi as her one true friend. I originally liked this photo where half her face was in shadow, made me think of the implication of something hiding within Wendy. She would be introduced to others as a kindhearted and curious girl who seems to have grown up without a lot of common experiences among people her age. Her bow hides a scar where the metal plate was placed post brain surgery, the surgery that led to Wendy taking control of Naomi’s living body without Naomi’s soul anywhere to be found. The only picture I found on my phone of this really old photo from my high school days with Wendy in it. Even without her being the focus character, I remember a big bow with a giant blonde Afro for an adorably curious girl who seemed a lot more optimistic than most of the people I drew for this survival game story.

Fallen Jet, this time focused on the green goblin inspired redesign I had for him from 2022, his old hair design when in his Hellish form, and a depiction of his design combining his oldest look with the green goblin inspired look.
Fallen Jet’s past designs with his original complex mask, drawing where his inspiration may have come from, and the more recent look I had for him by 2022 being inspired by the green goblin with goggles and his respirator coming with pointed ears. Always liked the idea of his hair changing with his Hell persona. Fallen Jet’s head shape influenced by my recent drawing of Omni man’s head, with his hair trying to translate one of his oldest looks, of his lighter hair in the front looking like a crown above his head. The fallen Jet page where I looked at his old symbol, tried to compare it to a vague fighter jet shape, and his old Hell hair design. The green goblin inspired look of the goggles and respirator with his oldest costume in mind of a bomber jacket over a possible logo on his shirt below where a scarf may his his neck. His demonic partner is a guardian gargoyle who gives him immense durability and strength when descending, causing him to treat his body as a living missile, crashing into people and objects while remaining unharmed. Any damage he creates looks as if he destroyed through heavy impact.

Old picture of Fallen Jet, then trying to redesign him taking inspiration from how Omni man is depicted in Invincible. I created this war veteran with a guardian gargoyle looking after him a long time ago, but came to get some inspirations from Omni man and the Green Goblin in more recent designs.

More recent concepts of Scarlett, and their hero persona (maybe I’ll call him Scarlet Sky or something similar). I do want to present this as an autistic person who struggles with their family and making personal relationships, due to their personal identity not reflecting their body.
Trying to figure out what their masculine hero would look like. I like the idea of a feathered cape, hero mask, body suit with some armored parts they can take off, and a vague overall bird inspired look. Very brief but cute idea came to mind of a tic they return to when thinking/trying to understand something. This is probably the cutest they’ve looked so far Scarlett receives a genuine compliment. A more bird inspired helmet look, with possibly feathers in the form of a Mohawk to represent a different vibe for their hero persona. This is still early development for this long time character of mine who’s never had a strong design before.

Scarlett Skybird was a character I came up with as a kid who was always just a vague concept of a person who wanted to be a red ranger, a wannabe hero that wanted to be a hero from their childish point of view. The character has evolved over time to be an ideal hero for this shy, lonely person.
Scarlett Skybird was a childhood name that didn’t even point to a specific bird, just an idea of alliteration and a hero name for a red ranger. I like the idea of the character being a tall, lanky socially awkward person who transforms into this idea of what a hero would be to them, vs how they’ve been treated in reality. I had the idea for the character to have a male body, but they wish to be a lot more feminine, they want to be called pretty in their reality, but they are treated poorly by their family and have very few if any peers. Their idea of masculinity that gets forced or “they failed” to uphold within their family, gets a new definition with their hero identity - Scarlett Skybird. Not sure if the hero name will stick, I do like the idea they want to be called Scarlett beyond any name that they’ve been given previously. The tall, skinny shy Scarlett wants to be called pretty and not bothered by how their family isolates and treats them, vs their hero persona of the Scarlett Skybird. When they’ve been told they’re a failure for not acting like a boy should, their hero persona is how they’ve express their masculinity when they wish to be more feminine outside of their hero persona. I really like the juxtaposition of Scarlett’s more feminine desired side and the want to be “a man” split between body mannerisms and the mask they put on. Socially awkward and treated poorly by those that should be giving care to this person who isn’t satisfied by their body, vs a “manly” mask being put on only to help others, but being very separate from the way they want to be perceived without the mask in the first place.

Past designs from memory of The Virtuous ZEAL - Rachel Leah Quorzee. Mainly listened to Iron Lotus by Mili for these roughs. Her oldest design is the top left one, an idea of a chesnut haired martial artist in a blue gi with a winter hat remains pretty solid from my school days. I remember basing the bottom left design off a previous coworker’s hairstyle. Tried to come up with a newer design for her while listening to Rot For Clout by Jaime Paige and Visualeyes. Loved the idea of the back explosion of hair or symmetrical twin tail sorta hair from two of the designs previously. As the hair was developing it made me think of a frilled lizard, placing Z’s within her design made me think of electricity. New design taking inspiration from the above designs as well. Liking the twin tails in the back while having some shorter looking hair in the front, gives me an impression of tying her hair up/back for athletic activity while also having some fun energy to display forward with some of her hair popping out like hearts with braids in mind. The oldest design’s hairstyle translated into a kid design. I found some of the oldest designs for characters from obelisk translate really well into child forms. It may also be reflective of some idea I’ve had these characters in my head for years, and their original designs make me think of both when I was a kid, and a more childish mindset to some extent for every character.
