It's important to be on your guard even in public spaces. Especially if you have a doppelganger on your trail, luckily new guides for dealing with these kind of threats are always coming out. Thanks to the help of dedicated adventurers!
How to deal with doppelgangers: A familiar visage visiting you is the least of your worries as these void reflections of your ambient aether. These low-level void minions latch onto a strong current of idle energy and drift towards them, drawn to the source these creatures with no body with slowly take on the appearance of their target through absorbing samples of their aether. Their main goal is to trap the target source and absorb any remaining aether, or capture them for use as a living battery. While weak in a fight these creatures can fool unobservant victims and take them unaware, taking advantage of the matching aether to inflict strange magics. "Oh, how nice to finally meet me! " Likewise, these devilish fiends must also be aware, for their weaknesses are many and while not permanent there are many ways to banish these shades. Any bright light source may swiftly defeat an unprepared doppelganger, blade and steel work just as well, while nimble these creatures lack the fortitude to overtake their targets in fair fights. "Smile~" If one falls victim to a hunting doppelganger, they will likely require outside assistance to escape and recover from the ordeal. Doppelgangers wish to keep their targets alive in order to continue growing in strength however the target may become malnourished and weak while under the clutches of their doppelganger. If long term effects manifest it will likely require a skilled conjurer or orthodox healer to cleanse the afflictions. "Wha-" *Camera flash* If help is found within adequate time, then any strange status inflicted on the target will often dissipate on its own. Interrupting a doppelganger in any manner before they have a chance to strengthen the bond on their captured target is the best way to assist your fellow adventurers and keep Eorzea safe. E. Frost.
