That is, a laughably simple view of it, Taiwan buys weapons because they get to be a military base for the USA in the event that Nato actually forces the issue. They get good western money and PR, but also protection from China. Being "independent" would be absolute fantasy.

The only reason you support "taiwan" is because you hate China, the only reason "taiwan" wants to be separate, is because the Kuomintang were driven off to an island, then SLAUGHTERED the natives, then pretended that they were the REAL china. It makes absolutely no sense to support that.
