I find it deeply disturbing that there's more penalties in Parliament for calling out corruption than actually being corrupt. Marit gained my respect not only for calling it out but for not backing down.

It's not the tariffs, it's the threat of annexation and the breakdown of due process. No one wants to visit a country that threatened to invade, or where you can end up in a detention facility for something you said or posted.

For the 100th time, it's NOT THE TARIFFS. It's the threat to our sovereignty! Get rid of the orange blob threatening to annex us, and maybe this relationship can start to heal. But every day that passes makes that less and less likely that we'll get the relationship back to what it was.

I hope you're right, but I'm not holding my breath. And I am seriously terrified that this is Doug throwing his hat in the ring to be the next Conservative leader federally when they finally get sick of Poilievre. The absolute last thing we need is Corrupt Doug running the country.

I honestly don't see how this did anything but make matters worse. It's completely derailed what progress Carney was making with Trump. One could argue it was informing the American public, but the people who were already against him knew all this, and his cult literally won't care.

If that was the case, sure. How is antagonizing the enormous toddler going to do that? He's now retaliating with more tariffs, not less.

To the detriment of the people of the province he's so terribly leading. The money for those ads was needed elsewhere. Giving him flowers for spending 75 million on ads for another country when ERs are closing due to lack of funds is not ok.

Agreed. The money he's spent on these ads is sorely needed by our health care, our education and several other services.

Please for the love of kittens do not make me praise Doug Ford, the man who's been starving our social services so he can pat himself on the back with an American ad campaign. That man was all for Trump until the 51st state nonsense, he's not a good guy.

The delusion is strong with these ones. Even if it wasn't all treaty land, even if the rest of Canada allowed it, a fully landlocked nation whose leaders have the negotiation skills of a spoiled and entitled teenager is going implode spectacularly.

It's been frightening since Trump started "joking" about annexation. It becomes increasingly frightening with every crack in the foundation of their democracy they drive a wedge into. We've seen what fascist regimes do to their neighbors.
