Flying is pretty cheap and people save all year and buy tickets in advance to fly to visit family. Personally I was not able to fly to see my family this year, so idk where you’re finding these records nor how holiday spending relates to the overall economic health.

Do you do group reading? In high school I had a teacher who would sit and read chapters out loud while we read along / out loud & then took breaks to discuss what we just read. Maybe kids need that to see what they need to look for & remember in their readings. Looks like memory issues :(
