It was a fairly typical military operation, horrible as that may be, one that congress probably would have rubberstamped (“in protest”) had he bothered to ask.

My only shock is 1: that he actually did it *this* brazenly instead of getting congress to debase themselves again over it and 2: that they actually bothered taking him alive.

Oh I mean this operation specifically. The fact people were surprised by the decapitation strike means they quite frankly just haven’t been paying attention.

As far as I have heard there isn’t really anything like that for Greenland/Canada. This is consistent. As bleak as it is, the global south is the target of proxy wars and imperialism. Things in the north tend to invite reciprocity. The big boys don’t like to hit targets that can actually hit back.

We talk a lot about insanity right but everything in Venezuela was being planned for months. It just wasn’t being talked about in mainstream news sources or in typical political discussion. Publicly available logs go over it pretty clearly as early as the end of October/beginning of November.

It genuinely depends on how serious they are about going after Canada. If they take Greenland it will (rightfully) be seen as an act of aggression towards Canada, too, since it will essentially be surrounding them. If they actually want to do that, then yeah, Greenland is probably on the table.

I use anti static stuff because there’s no reason for me to break the habit but broadly speaking no protection is gonna make any difference on anything other than ram and only if you’re particularly unlucky.

It’s one of those things that was once true, isn’t anymore, and lots of people don’t know anything ever changed. Anti-static equipment was originally as much for your protection as the equipment. This is no longer true in either direction (ish, but not for the typical consumer).

How to fix consistently: turn monitor off, unplug from gpu, unplug monitor from outlet. Wait for monitor to fully discharge (around a minute tops should be good, this causes a true power cycle when you power on next). Plug monitor into outlet again, power on, wait for no signal, then reconnect gpu.

I’m guessing this is a pretty common hardware glitch. If sometimes, despite everything working, your monitor shows “no signal” it’s because it’s caught up on some internal thing that causes it to miss the signal. Good news! If it’s this, nothing is actually wrong. Bad news! It may happen again.
