Project 06 does a lot to fix the gameplay, but from what I understand they aren't touching any of the between mission stuff, which is where the development troubles really show IMO. Remixing that, adding cutscenes, and campaigns for the side characters would achieve the original vision I think

I'm overdue to replay it I think. I might get back into livestreaming and get my fix that way

Praying Nintendo sees Astro Bot eating Mario's lunch and triggers a 3d platformer arms race. I'd say Microsoft too, but my heart can't take the hope anymore. Its been 17 years, I need to let go. God a new Banjo-Kazooie with Astro's quality would be ascendant tho.

That game deserved every damn accolade it was put up for, game awards or otherwise. If it doesn't end up my game of the decade, the next five years are gonna be just about the best ever for games.
