But this is also about us as a nation, who we are as a people and what we’re willing to tolerate for the sake of politics.

I hope we do not yield until there is justice for the survivors.

In doing so, perhaps we can prove to ourselves that we still have something within us worth saving.

I’ve watched us excuse the inexcusable for greed, profit and partisan ideology.

I need to know we are still capable of having a red line.

Something so morally reprehensible than even our toxic politics cannot gloss over it…or worse, normalize it.

So yes, I want justice for the survivors.

For me, it’s also about stopping our descent into sheer madness.

Toxic politics has ripped our country apart.

I’ve watched in horror as people have cheered for insurrections, secessions and the demonization of their fellow Americans.

The vast majority of the country wants them released. A glimmer of unity for the first time in years.
