An acquaintance had given me the Red Hill last year or so, and it surprisingly bloomed this spring! Never seen that before. The zebrina also bloomed, but not my fuzzy one

Actually posted some pics of one this past year! Turns out I hear them all the time but it was my first sighting. They are huge and unmistakable for sure. (Not amazing pics, it was a bit far)

Male Yellow-shafted Northern Flicker (Colaptes auratus luteus) #birds
Exposure was kind of weird because I was facing a big ass, blinding lake looking off a small bluff. but first capture always counts for me.
