My first willow basket project using an excellent home-study package. It was a market basket kit but it's going to be a storage basket instead. I didn't make the sides straight enough. However it's very pleasing and functional nonetheless, and I will make a second one. #myowntwohands #willowweaving

Yesterday I made my first proper woven item from willow. It was a skill builder project included with a market basket making kit from #MyOwn2Hands The Catalan Tension Tray was a really useful learning experience before starting the basket.
Early stages of weaving project showing the willow hoop, placement of handles and about 12 woven rods forming the tray. The image shows the woven tray at the penultimate stage where a paired weave is being applied to the top side of the tray close to the hoop. The finished tension tray is shown on a table with 3 apples displayed on it. The apples are blushed with red. The tray consists of a willow hoop with handles created from 4 sets of paired rods. Shorter rods are woven over and under the hoop and handles to create a flat platter.

On the needles and nearly finished..Dagmar jacket by Petit Knits. Yarn is a recycled wool mix aran weight from Ewe and Ply. I avoided 2nd sleeve syndrome by doing them before completing the body. A few more cm on the body, then ribbing and front bands to do. #knitting #aranknitting #cableknitting
