In terms of reusing a PC? I try not to overindulge but sometimes it's just good to bring them back out for a fuller story, usually with changes- new circumstances make a new 'person'.
In terms of Players doing stuff without others around? Depends how much they're angling for benefits over others.

It was fun! Many enjoyable characters, solid decision making from GM side on how to handle things, good resolution, and we got to help a nerd-ass Necromancer make friends.
