underestimate how much energy and work the people at the top exhact from the working population, and how much energy is expended in the violence, propaganda, bureocracy needed to uphold the hierarchy.
We can do with much less hierarchy, and I'll be an anarchist until I find a just hierarchy (never?)

existed and flourished throughout human history, although often forgotten.
Graeber and Wengrow have found and posited many such examples in "the Dawn of Everything".
I don't think it is as easy as "people will spontaneously produce insulin in their homelabs and give it for free" but many... 3/?

One where cooperation is encouraged and work is maybe hard but never thankless. I also am not naive enought to think such a society wouldn't require much effort to be maintained, because hierarchies are quite simple to develop.
Societies which we would today cathegorize as "anarchic" have... 2/?

We're entering "tricky" territory, but I would define hierarchy as the status in which someone gains forceful authority over some other.
So whenever someone can order you something and you cannot refuse by threat of violence/deprivation.
Personally, I think a different world is possible... 1/?

Addenda:
- There's some overlap, people's thoughts are not always coherent and that's fine
- There is a rare-ish breed of non-liberal "leftists" ("Capitalism bad, but the gays are i̶c̶k̶y̶ enemies of the revolution"). Avoid them like the plague.

...so they're often on the same side of politics ("the left") but are not the same:
- libs think leftists are naive for thinking all hierarchies can be demolished
- leftists think libs are naive for thinking equality and freedom can be reached without demolishing the existing hierarchies.

The short of it: in this context "leftist" is a communist/anarchist who thinks hierarchies and capitalism are bad, while "lib" is someone who thinks that capitalism and hierarchies are either kinda good, or inevitable. Both are "leftist" and "liberal" in the sense of valuing personal freedom... 1/2

Even funnier, "oistros" actually was originally the term for horse flies. Estrogen is the "horse fly generator".
September 11, 2025 at 2:55 PM
Small fun correction! Estrogen doesn't come from the latin "exterus" ("outside", "other") but from the greek oistros which in context you could translate as "passion" or even "hornyness". So it's the "man hormone therapy" and the "horny ormone therapy"

Not specifically Montepulciano, but I have friends half an hour from there

You could also use an exhortative conjuntive in 1st person plural (you could also use 3rd person plural), rendering
"Vivamus, Ridamus, Amemus" (if I recall my latin conjugations right)

No, but the "trust the experts" mantra has been used as a trojan horse for privatization, austerity and similar policies that were unpopular AND bad. Any opposition was drawn as backwards and naive, but often proven right. Many people do not trust experts anymore, but sadly not without reason.

The german subtitles for some reason translate "Bureocracy" to "Democracy" which is wrong but weirdly topical in a speech about technocrats.

I'm sending you some stuff via DM, in case you haven't found it yet!

It's also used in (at least central) Italy in the same way!

My understanding is that those cars are property of indipendent dealers, not Toyota. They do pay most of the cars through loans offered by Toyota itself, but this means that whenever Toyota builds a car, it's immediately sold to a dealer and Toyota onboards little risk. But Tesla has no dealers.

You call it corrosion, I call it a visionary idea that adds highly integrated ultra-long-lasting Redox batteries to Diesel-powered trains to achieve a hybrid engine.

Your potions wouldn't cure a mouse, let alone a man! You need a seller that sells stronger potions!

What kind of evil chickens do you have in the US? Most hens I've interacted with are usually pretty tame with people.
