Following my extremely successful first try at vacuum marination (Chicken Teriyaki), I have plans.
Sciencey plans, for head to head experiments.
Would falafel mix re-hydrate better or more quickly with pulsing vacuum? Would it make better or faster coleslaw?

We got a vacuum sealer which has a vacuum marination feature. I tried it out yesterday, and made restaurant quality teriyaki chicken breast. Total success!

This was my favorite movie in elementary school. Judy Holliday's character used the fake name "Melissande Scott" and I wanted a name like that.
But looking at this picture now, I realize it was also the origin of my crush on Dean Martin. That, and that my Uncle Freddy looked a bit like Dean Martin.

This weekend our cooking project was turning corned beef into pastrami. This is the biggest of the 4 pieces we smoked.
It was raining out, which didn't bother our electric smoker, but eventually messed with the temperature probes.
