Canadian elections don’t have fixed dates ,but one was scheduled for this year by October. Now it will come much sooner, it would have come much sooner anyway as the Liberals had a minority. Nothing has been announced yet
but it could be as soon as the last Monday in April.

He doesn’t come from old money or new money. He’s obviously very well educated though and by now quite rich, but he’s been a banker so obviously he has money. There’s having money because you’re smart and work hard and then there’s “elite” …Elon is elite, Trump is elite….

It can happen by October but we could be at the polls by the end of April most likely. He needs to get a seat in Parliament hopefully and in that election he will face Pierre Poilievre, leader of the Conservative Party. Liberals could even win the most seats but Carney might not get one, hope not!

The Prime Minister now asks the Governor General (the King’s Representative in Canada) to dissolve Parliament so we can have a general federal election. It could be as soon as end of April when we are at the polls. That’s when he faces Poilievre the leader of the CPC Conservative Party of Canada

Liberal party members voted and he is the leader of the Liberal party and the designated or interim Prime Minister, that is all.

I’m sorry to tell you that no, you didn’t understand it at all. Canadian politics are quite different from US politics, they are far closer to the UK’s system. Mark Carney has only won the leadership of the party.
