Good point! I think this is on page 1 of their playbook. They’ve used this tactic for so long because it works so well on their audience. By the time a retraction (assuming there is any) comes out, their audience has been fed 5 more topics in their news feed & it’s fallen out of recent memory.

Really though, why do they care sooo much? If it’s not my jam (band, album, fandom) it doesn’t even register on my “give a f*” radar. Deep down, haters are just secret fans. Excitement stemming from hate OR pleasure - it’s a dopamine hit either way.

As a caregiver & nursing school grad (didn’t enter the profession), I’ve witnessed the power of hope to keep people alive & fighting even beyond medical odds. I’ve also seen the inverse, when hope has died.
