Horror author, sometimes musician, dirtbag. If you used to follow me, I promise I'm better now. No AI whatsoever.
Me with a nosebleed on the way home from the shops while my 8 year old son reminds me not to tilt my head back.

Life Cycle is an interesting no-budget science fiction movie about a man who creates an AI companion in order to better understand himself and other humans. It doesn't unfold quite the way you expect, and there's occasional, intriguing flashes of something much darker and weirder under the surface.

Wow, what a terrible movie! Literally nothing works and the filmmakers seem to know it, which is probably why they can't go five seconds without showing you something gross. Decent-ish cast, but when the funniest thing in your movie is Fred Durst just Dursting around you know you got problems.

Hostile Dimensions is one of those movies where you know you're in good hands from the very first frame. More compelling than a lot of movies with far more zeros at the end of their budget. The ropiness of some of the effects only added to its charm.

Rewatching this overlooked gem. Of all the movies that came out of the pandemic, I don't think any other has captured the way lockdown felt with such accuracy. Also works as a supremely effective piece of horror filmmaking in its own right.

After looking at each other through binoculars for a sum total of about 5 minutes, Jimmy Plywood and the Manic Pixie Gun Girl fall in love. The only obstacle to their relationship? The big ol' hole full of ghouls that lies between them. I liked the concept, but the Gorge is a deeply silly movie.

It's a pity 2017's The Circle sank like a stone, because it really does deserve to be talked about as one of the worst movies ever made. An aggressively misguided film that refuses to engage in any conversation about the issues it raises. Both dull and outrageous throughout its running time.

Watched Daddy's Head on Shudder, a movie with a bunch of ideas and at least one genuinely terrifying image that, sadly, just didn't really land for me. I appreciated its late night movie vibe, use of inference, and creature design, and really wanted to like it. There just wasn't quite enough there.

Watching Boy Kills World. First of all, this is exactly what you picture when you are a ten-year-old trying to imagine what an R-rated movie looks like. Also, seeing that Sharlto Copley is in a film should tell you exactly you're about to get from your viewing experience.

"I've waited for the sirens, the flashing lights in my window. But they haven't come. And they never will."

Now watching.

Took some pics on the walk to the shops from my parents' place. This used to be regarded as a pretty crummy neighbourhood when I was growing up. Nothing much has changed in the last two decades, other than people's perceptions of what makes a neighbourhood bad.
