With two weeks until the #Origin decider for 2025.

50 years ago, Arthur Beetson declared in Rugby League Week: “I want to play for Queensland!”

Let’s just hope the NRL doesn’t have a last-minute change of heart and instead return Newtown to the Blacktown-Liverpool region instead.

The West Australian (owned by Seven West Media, chaired by Kerry Stokes, owners of AFL FTA rights) are clearly not taking news of an NRL team well. I presume they think the Bears will completely overrun the AFL there and maybe set a course for world domination.

Sold out Allianz Stadium and a big crowd building for one of the great events on the rugby league calendar. Always a special occasion. ADF leads NZDF in the curtain-raiser 8-6 at half time.

Game day at Accor Stadium. Nobody, even Souths fans, enjoy Rabbitohs home games because their ground is terrible. Yet they signed a long-term contract. Strange way of doing business, but I don’t think the Roosters will mind too much. Plenty of good memories here.

Great news from the Roosters. Love Jocelyn Kelleher’s partnership with Tarryn Aiken in the halves. Had a hell of a game in the grand final in 2024. Massive day with the boot. Kept the Sharks under constant pressure

Great stuff yesterday from the Kaiviti Silktails, recording their first Jersey Flegg win since moving to the competition from Ron Massey Cup at the start of last year. They beat St George Illawarra 23-22 at Churchill Park in Lautoka

Extraordinary night last night at Commbank Stadium. What a brilliant win by the Sydney Roosters. Nobody, myself included, gave them a chance. How wrong we all were.

You’d think that whomever is in charge of the automated “the network is rooted again” feature at Sydney Trains would make sure they hit the right button at least, not the one for heavy fog.

Very vivid rainbow this morning. Does anyone think my neighbours will mind if I take a shovel and leprechaun to find the pot of gold at the bottom of it?

Perfect conditions for rugby league at Campbelltown Sports Stadium tonight. Healthy crowd making their way in, minimal cloud cover, a slight breeze but barely noticeable, perfect temperature. Some rare optimism for Wests Tigers fans. Strong contingent of Newcastle fans too.

In case you were on the fence about subscribing to BarTV Sports, you not only support grassroots sport, you can choose a competition and even a club to support as well.

Big League grand final editions. 1975, 1977, 1979, 1981-85, 88-2019 and 2024, as well as the Rugby League News GF editions of 1956 and 1973.
The gap from 2020-23 will haunt me.
