I’m more concerned about how efficiently they can get the money out the door and create outcomes. Anything will be a drop in the bucket when a 40 year sustained investment is needed but if #Canada keeps it simple with a mix of grants and financing and keeps accelerated housing outcomes as a goal,

The stats also show steady growth that nevertheless does not meet demand. And all on a programming and admin budget that are at concerning levels that frankly represent risk.

Projected replacement units already don’t meet need. There are 500 ish people accessing shelter + the 60-ish that don’t. This is for supportive #housing. What most #homeless people need doesn’t exist. #yyj #bcpoli

Blaming elected leaders for causing issues like extortion (Province) or street disorder (muni) misses the mark in these cases. The measure of effectiveness is if they are adapting and responding appropriately or hanging on to tactics that are in the known and comfort zone.

Issues like #homelessness, growing street disorder, open and destructive substance use, and even kidnappings and extortion are happening in countries where this phenomenon was rare. The volume is different and the response may be different but the issues are the same.
