Your mentee is lucky to have someone as committed 🥰 Most of my trainees aim for the F31, so this was a learning process for me. The random, last minute rule changes did not help. 🫠

The prompt I got said size 11 Times New Roman, single spaced, 2 pages. I am default Arial or Helvetica, so my eyes were crossing after the conversion 😵‍💫

The whole thing is cruel. We had 3 students (2nd yr GS) in our grant class find out they lost their chance to apply. We have 1st yr GSs in their 1st rotation applying. This transcript thing…. Can we mention the required serif font for the letters? 😮‍💨

The grants I’m griping about are not fellowships. My grad program did not have a grants class either. They still don’t! Arguably the most practical course for a grad student, though.

We tell the students that while grantsmanship is not a score-able criterion for NIH study section, it sure is for our class!
