something i have learned from substitute teaching is how much i love the investigative and creative side of science. today i was in class where students could build anything they wanted out of legos, magnetic tiles, etc… and it was so refreshing to see joy in exploration

I can't speak for anyone else,

But a thing that I am finding is really helping me to get through all this nonsense

is helping others.

It can be something small- sharing a job ad with a fired colleague, looking over a resume- or something larger.

But helping others helps me.

it’s so wild trying to read scientific papers as a recently graduated person from an academic institute, i feel like a monkey looking through the glass at a zoo seeing all the papers i could read but can’t with academic credentials
