It's about being public. That pisses oppressors off. It causes them to react with violence. Their violence toward peaceful protestors makes them look bad and sways the public away from them. We stay peaceful..THEY go violent. That's the whole point of "non violent resistance"..making them react

I advocated for that. Non violent resistance works because it provokes violence in the oppressor. We do our protests, peacefully, but we do them in public. Oppressors can't stand people standing up to them, so they lash out with violence. We don't return their violence.

Margaret Thatcher did just that. As did Queen Elizabeth the 1st and Catherine the Great. Cleopatra. Women are not immune from wanting great power or having great egos. While in general, I agree women can make better, more collaborating leaders, not all of them do that. Some are right up awful.
