I think we need both. The term play is often misunderstood by many. How do you define it?? Genuinely interested as early years is so important.

Play is how we learn. But some learning is developmental so we can only learn when we reach a particular stage. Play allows for effective differentiation. How play is structured and planned by teachers is key.
