Part of this is that minors in this situation are particularly susceptible to harmful suggestions, for example in the "manosphere" corners of the internet where misogynistic/otherwise bigoted rhetoric is the norm and used to mislead repressed male teens

Hot take: I don't think minors should be left in a situation where they're locked away from understanding themselves in a healthy way, especially during the time when their hormones are running wild and repression will lead to consequences further down the line.
