I like how DQ2 and DQ3 have this contrast of one having great customizability and the other having great main characters. Both are great games, and they show how different approaches change the gaming experience

When they gave every weapon a counter/dodge/self-buff I felt the fun in learning weapons against specific monsters drop hard. It was cooler when there were exclusive benefits to certain weapons (for example, using items when SNS was drawn). Now everything feels homogenous
