The staff seems more like a heavy two-handed melee weapon than magical one. Instead of a block, it should let you bring up a set of spells like a tome.

@obsidian.net What is the point of non-unique weapons? I LOVE Avowed. All the characters I make use unique versions of their weapons the second I get one, and that's not more than an hour or two into the game.

@obsidian.net I love Avowed! By far some of the best level design out there. Its a blast to explore.
