This was published in *Scientific Reports*, which pumps out tens of thousands of papers a year and isn't nearly as prestigious as *Nature*. It is supposed to be peer-reviewed, though, and in this case it clearly wasn't. It's a failure for sure, but not as bad as Nature itself missing this.

I'm not in any way suggesting that we look away. In fact, I think we should be paying very close attention to their every move. You can acknowledge what it looks like and has the potential to turn into, while still admitting that we aren't quite there right now.

Damn that's actually crazy. I'm hoping that this is just another one of Musk's awkward gestures, but considering his past statements and support of the AfD, I doubt it.

It is hyperbole. There are definitely concerns to be had over how closely their administration's statements align with facist ideals. However, The word "Nazi" is specifically in reference to the actual german political party. Facism does not inherently mean Nazism.
