I think there’s a difference between “plot details are missing but you can still get the emotional gist” and “you don’t even know what the characters are feeling without reading these three books beforehand”. If the tone can’t even be parsed without external material, you’re really cooking

I suspect an HD-2D remake of the Zenithian trilogy. And if DQ7R sells well, I can see a similar style remake of 8 and (ideally) 9. 9 remake is the goal

The fun thing about DQ is seeing the increasing complexity in storytelling via gameplay through this series specifically
