He told him to ascend Olympus himself and free his mother, of his own free will, so that he could claim the beautiful and lascivious Aphrodite as his prize and be fully accepted among the other Olympians.

P.S. The barrier isn't a real barrier; Posy could physically cross it, but if he did, he'd risk intervention from Zeus or Athena
