Yeah same guy. Very weirdly incestuous world nyc media, considering the sheer volume of journalists writers and thinkers concentrated here!

One of their observations I appreciated is since cost of engagement on socials is so high, many have become passive consumers on the public internet but share and discuss higher quality works in private internet / messaging groups. No data there of course, and it’s super silo’d echo chambers.

Sat in on a debrief from a fascinating study on engagement (and disinfo / illiberal narratives) in fragmented digital space from @csmapnyu.org showing most consumers prefer and seek out low quality content even when better is available. Media have catered to our basest drives, so how do we address?

It is FINE to complain that Trump would not have treated a Black woman mayor of NYC the same as Mamdani got treated but keep in mind that we all had to worry Mamdani might be kidnapped by ICE on that trip, ok?

“You people”? Was just trying to speak for myself! I’m not high. Just hoping to build a coalition that includes immigrants in an immigrant heavy city.

I am hopeful for a coalition between longstanding U.S. Black and immigrant Black, Asian, and Latino voters. I am working toward that and it won’t be easy. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

I have not found engaging with right wing and Republican voters around racism, sexism, and Islamophobia to be particularly effective. So I focus on working to build solidarity within Democrat blocs. I don’t identify as a leftist by the way.

Reasonable.

This thread is about center and left Democrats. That’s why I’m focusing there. Trying to stay on topic.
