Creating psychological safety takes consistent, small acts of courage that ripple outward:
* Name your experience authentically. It allows others to do the same.
* Notice when you're putting on a mask that disconnects you from your body & emotions.
* Recognize & reward vulnerability as strength.

When people don’t feel safe to question power, challenge injustice or be vulnerable in public spaces, democracy weakens from the inside out. Even before U.S. voters elected an authoritarian populist for president, we’ve been working in systems that teach us to stay silent when it matters most. 3/

Harvard’s Amy Edmonson coined the phrase “psychological safety” to describe an environment where there’s a shared belief that people can take risks, make mistakes & speak up without fear. Social scientists believe this is one of the basic needs for self-actualization yet too often, we fall short.
