Making Lemonade and Memories

“Your breast cancer has spread to your bones” were the worst words I’ve ever been told. How I react to them is up to me.

Join me as I make memories with my family despite my cancerous “lemons”.

Thanks to everyone’s good wishes, and shoutout to @deirdrejean.bsky.social who bought me COVID-19 tests. We all tested negative last night, and my son tested negative two consecutive days.

I cannot get enough of the stunning sunrise this morning while walking Kaslo. It’s simply breathtaking!!!!

I left the peaceful countryside—except for those bighorns ramming—to head back to the city for my health appointments. My first this week is for my flu and COVID-19 vaccines. With terminal cancer, every bit of protection matters. Is anyone else in my network getting theirs?

What a gorgeous harvest moon / supermoon. It almost looks like the sun!

I did it, and was caught red-handed by the @calgarypolice.bsky.social

Thanks to the officer who took my photo!

Do your civic duty and get out to vote in #YYC. I was in and out within a few minutes!

How did everyone handle the 1st day of teachers’ 🪧 strike?

If the government paid teachers what they’re giving parents, there wouldn’t be a strike.

I spent half the day at the hospital teaching my kids during my cancer treatments. 🤢 Teachers, our kids, and we all deserve better!

Hi! @lukaszukab.bsky.social I’m in Calgary for my cancer treatments at the Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre (Foothills Hospital) tomorrow morning. Are there any canvassers in that area I could meet (or they could meet me) so I could sign the #ForeverCanada petition?

With the #YYC election coming up, I researched Ward 12’s candidates. I met with Raj-Kumar Khuttan, an independent with great experience and a genuine, action-focused attitude. He’s not tied to bigger groups & can truly represent our communities. If you haven’t met him yet, see 🔗👇. www.rajward12.com

Since being diagnosed in 2019, only twice I’ve had the kids during my parenting time, as our Parenting Agreement states we are to work around treatment days.

Today is one of those exceptions. It’s nice to have some great company on a miserably wet ☔️ day. My son is my sunshine today. ☀️

I’m not sure who taught Trump math, but imposing 25% increase to a 25% tariff is actually 25 x 1.25 = 31.25%

I get that is what he said, but why aren’t reporters correcting his math and asking for clarification. 25% to 50% is 100% increase…

I can’t speak for others, but for me, early voting has never been about party preference—it's has always been about convenience and avoiding long lines. That’s become an even more important factor; I need to minimize my risk of getting sick, which could impact my life-sustaining cancer treatments.

I’ve proudly fulfilled my democratic duty — I hope my fellow eligible Canadians are doing the same!

🇨🇦 Elbows up! 🇨🇦

I’ve cast my vote in every provincial & federal election for the past 34 years, but this one feels even more crucial than the Quebec Referendum. Every vote matters — especially now.

Where do I recall hearing such a slogan? Ah yes, Trump’s 2024 campaign trail.

I can’t unsee that face now!

How about this instead?

I don’t know how my kids will react to this news.

Colour me impressed! I’m grocery shopping and two boys, early teens, were looking for snacks. They were checking labels and putting items back, commenting that they weren’t Canadian. Good job parents! 💕

A very short day on the slopes with the kiddos—emphasis on short. This sign at our tiny ski hill cracks me up. Was it a preemptive strike against unhinged parenting, or did someone actually bomb down the slopes with a baby strapped on? Either way, I’d love to hear that conversation.

Some people train at the gym marathons; I wrestle with compression socks. What should be a simple task turns into a 10-minute battle between my hands and a pair of very determined socks. Spoiler alert: the socks often win.

I’ve found plenty of 🇨🇦 brands for groceries at great prices—except for Olympic milk, which costs twice as much as Beatrice. Still, gotta support local! Go, Canada, go! 🍁
