I would go as far as to say, you should really think about what war is and how they select targets in war and educate yourself on that matter before calling it an ethnic cleansing or genocide. It's far from it.

Realistically war crimes are happening on both sides, and if your definition of war is both sides being on semi equal footing, then Vietnam doesn't count, neither does most of the Roman empire's conquests, and neither is most of the conflicts in Asia because one side clearly outmatched the other.
