I played less games this year, but played plenty of long RPGs. Also, I lost count how many times I've fallen asleep in bed with a controller/Steam Deck in my hand. Ace Attorney is just that comfy. 😆

Completed Nagisa's route. Possibly the saddest ending of the entire game, it completely changes Tomoya's outlook on life. No longer living without purpose, his interactions with the Furukawas shaped his perception of family that he will carry long into his adult life. After Story is next! 😎

The “All Wishes Are Fulfilled” ending is pretty much what I expect from a typical “Law” SMT ending. I didn't get the “True” ending yet, but I'm feeling some kind of burnout— most likely from fighting Demi-fiend on both routes, so my SMTVV journey is on hold for now. Only 4 endings to go! 🥳

The “All Wishes Are Fulfilled” ending is pretty much what I expect from a typical “Law” SMT ending. I didn't get the “True” ending yet, but I'm feeling some kind of burnout— most likely from fighting Demi-fiend on both routes, so my SMTVV journey is on hold for now. Only 4 endings to go! 🥳
The Vengeance route, however, fared much better. The two supporting characters and their clashing of ideas provides much needed context, and it's fairly obvious from the start that Nahobino had to choose between the two. It's fairly cliché, but it's done well in this instance.

A week ago, I've reached the “Destroy the Throne” Ending in SMTV Vengeance, on the Creation route. The story was fine, I suppose. It only touches off the characters' motivation for the briefest moment. I generally don't mind sparse storytelling, but it was rather poorly implemented in this route.

A week ago, I've reached the “Destroy the Throne” Ending in SMTV Vengeance, on the Creation route. The story was fine, I suppose. It only touches off the characters' motivation for the briefest moment. I generally don't mind sparse storytelling, but it was rather poorly implemented in this route.
It's fine to hate on Youhei because he ruined the club's chances to compete, but to bully Mei even after her earnest efforts to help his brother earning his place once again— that is not right. The soccer club is a bad place filled with bad people, and Youhei is better off without them.

Finished The Sunoharas route. It's not easy for Youhei to pick himself up again after he lost his place in the Soccer club. The rejection is affecting him more than he'd like to admit. Like Tomoya said, he was simply making excuses for himself right up until Mei's altercation with the club.

Cleared Kappei's route. I wish Key fleshed out the relationship between Ryou and Kappei a bit more. Tomoya didn't play an integral part in it until near the end of the story. On the other hand, it's great that during his brief appearance, Yusuke can inspire Ryou into action.

Tinkering with unsupported games in Steam Deck is so passé. Tinkering with CSS themes is where it's at. 🪄

I've finished with both Fujibayashi sisters' routes. A more classical take on sibling rivalries, there was a bit of role reversal where Ryou was strangely assertive and Kyou did the opposite. Their routes were rather straightforward, but it's still tugging on my heartstrings all the same.😢

Completing the Soundtrack bundles, some tiny games nobody has heard of, and Devil Engine (finally after all these years). That's it for me from this sale, I think.

Now with Sunshine. The touch screen input worked without issues too. Apparently the latest release has 10bit/HDR support, but sadly it requires Win11. That's a project for next year, I guess. 🌞

In this setup, I used Parsec to cast Citra's secondary screen to the Steam Deck. Controller input from Steam Deck worked out of the box. I struggled with this setup using my Galaxy Tab in the past, so it's nice to have this running without much effort. Next, I'll use Sunshine instead of Parsec. 😎

Setting up Emudeck. It's a bit of a pain in the arse, since I already have all the directories setup nicely in RetroArch rdb style, and now I had to do a bit of mucking around. 😔

Bailing out of the basement levels of the Pyramid is possibly the most excruciating bit of #DQ3 so far because of the extremely high encounter rate. The loot is great, but I'm just glad it's all over, though. ☠️
