Yep, 100% agreed. the synology and qnap nas are just one step above w/ ability to host and do more things than a normal raid 1 backup.

Synology is also well respected, a good case will be about 200 dollars, plus whatever you decide to throw in it for hard drives.

I run a simple 2 bay qnap. which one you get depends on if you want to use it for extra things (I run plex on top of it to watch media right from the nas). If just backup, you can get something less bells and whistles.
