The hypocrisy is, the VN Govmt bans private fireworks (Decree 137/2020/ND-CP) but sells its own via state-run Z121 Factory. It’s not about safety—it’s a monopoly. Illegal fireworks still flood Tet, while selective enforcement lets chaos reign. If they’re dangerous, ban them all.

Noise Pollution: Explosions at 2 AM? Not cool. Fireworks exceed 150 dB, way beyond the WHO’s safe threshold of 85 dB, causing hearing damage and stress (WHO, 2018).

The number of burns, eye injuries, and hand amputations spikes. In 2023, over 380 cases of firework-related injuries were recorded during Tet (Vietnam Ministry of Health, 2023). This year this figure went down to around 200 cases but Tet isn’t over yet.

Let me cite some facts:
- Health Hazards: Fireworks release PM2.5 and toxic heavy metals like lead and barium, worsening air pollution and respiratory diseases (Moreno et al., 2010; Wang et al., 2007). Hanoi’s air quality plummets every Tet.
