In Japan, the infringement of adaptation rights is likely to be the main issue under the copyright law. I'm curious about how similar cases are treated in other countries.

However, it seems that the copyright would be cleared if the name of the existing product is not used for branding the new product. Since it doesn't involve direct reproduction of illustrations or text.
