It’s even in the name, “Visual Novel.”
I love many Visual Novels, and they’re absolutely worth playing, but most “gamers” are not necessarily being unfair when they struggle to enjoy visual novels when compared to games with a MUCH higher level of engagement.

VNs have always felt, to me, like a book that is also a game, rather than a game that is a book.
I’ve found that gameplay is generally nonexistent in many VNs (which is not a negative), and they function more like a choose your own adventure comic book rather than an archetypal game.

It’s still pretty enough to wishlist!
