Excellent! The grundig I have works well but I haven't opened it up yet. I suspect I should give it a decent cleaning (similar to you) before I use it too much!

I agree. I love ham radio but I can sometimes go weeks without doing anything. Then I'll come back to it for a while. Maybe it's some sort of post-purchase rationalization behavior (with how expensive ham equipment can be) that makes people feel they need to do it constantly. Same with golfing.
