Something fun we used to do (until the camera broke) was take an old 90s Polaroid camera with us and one pack of film. So we basically just had 8 film squares to make a photo count and they turned out to be incredible photos of moments to remember rather than something to share.

It's just vacationing for the sake of showing off at that point...

But on the activity side, we got to do previews at Epic and they wouldn't allow us to have our phones. Tbh that was the moment I started to realize how fucked this all is. Everyone was actually having fun because we were enjoying ourselves and chatting rather than taking pictures of everything.

Yeah there's definitely a line there for posting too much for validation (hopefully one I'm not crossing, sometimes I feel good about myself and like to for fun. At least I don't think it's for validation 😅).

Inauthenticity as in people putting on this mask of who they are and how great their life is.

That too. I'm down to Instagram, Bluesky, and Snapchat and trying to reduce further. It's so hard to rewire yourself not to habitually check your phone, especially when it comes to FOMO. But I feel like the general inauthenticity and influx of AI generated content is finally convincing me..

Interesting, I love finding out things like this. That used to be a common phrase here in the US for cooking something in a microwave oven, then morphed into just blasting something on high power in the microwave. I don't know of anyone actually using it anymore though tbh.

Just out of curiosity, have you never used the phrase "nuke" when referring to microwaving something?
