oh ya and a special thanks goes out to @theposearchives.bsky.social for their very good work which helped with this and all sorts of other bits i'm doing now. picked up some of their packs and am finding a consistent source of poses to work from incredibly valuable in a few projects, very recommend

checked what I could and I'd go with the Victress. saw a few bad words about the sound on the Mykesonic and nothing negative so far on the other, so I think for an all in one easy to use system it'll do a good job. It looks easier to hook up to other equipment in the future if you ever wanted to too

Those both look like decent choices, I'd either double check what reviews say about the built in speakers and go based on that or intend to hook up your own, I can't imagine the playback on either unit would be poor here
Mine, unfortunately, is hard to compare directly but it sure can get loud

the biggest impact, like all of these things, seemed to be the speakers. i imagine even one of those wobbly compact units wouldn't be so bad if you had good speakers hooked up, but it might sound a bit off if it wobbles in playback which is why i'm reticent to recommend them as they do it a lot

it's a bit harder to recommend good new hardware because in the end i inherited an old 1996 unit that works well, but considering that it was one of those cassette tape, CD player, vinyl hybrid monstrosities, and all functions but the vinyl have given up i don't think you need a "good" player

any portable, folding, or compact units are likely to be worse. either because the built-in speaker is no good, it's just not stable enough and wobbles, or doesn't let you tweak it for your own specific setup, based on one i used to have and a few family and friends have tried to foist off on me

i have a fair collection of vinyls and a competent enough player to go with it, and i've had a stinker of one too so i know what's on the worse end, a decent range of not so bad audio equipment too that one would hope informs that i care at least a little about fun audio niceties
